"Some things you do for Love"

All you really need is to love, well and truly love, what you do.

When you love what you do, you work to get better at it just because you can. When you love what you do, it shows in what you do, and people can see that. Because when you love what you do, you've put a lot of work into it and you're good at it.

Wishlist: "cmacs"

Y'know what would be cool? It'd be cool if we could rewrite emacs to use common lisp instead of emacslisp, and then combine it with the window manager.

There are already window managers in common lisp. (For example, StumpWM. I can't say how good it is though, since I haven't bothered to get it to play nice with kde-greater.) And common lisp is a full programming language on the order of C/Java/Javascript. Furthermore, emacs already tries to do ninety-nine percent of everything you could ever want to do anyways. Why can't we just universalize that?

20

With my birthday coming soon, I realized something:

I'm twenty. (Give or take birthday rounding error.) This is the most free time I will EVER have.

And it's not nearly enough as much as I'd like.

Blargh.

Words

There's some new words making their way into my vocabulary. I figured it'd make sense to write down what they are, both to help puzzle out what I mean by them and so the rest of you can know have any idea what I mean by them.

Review: Of Mice and Men

I've heard about John Steinbeck for a while, but I've never read any of his stuff. A writer friend recommended him recently, so I finally picked up Of Mice and Men to give it a read.

Steinbeck. ZOMG Steinbeck. Where to start...

I've been watching #schoolhouserock recently. I find myself hoping Galaxy Girls has a one-off character named Jannet.

Life is weird.

Review: Michael Vey: Rise of the Elgen

There are good books, and there are bad books. And then there are books that make you want to throw them across the room. This... is one of the later kind.

Plot-wise, Rise of the Elgen is ... okay, I guess. It's the second book in the Michael Vey series, and I've read the first one. I'm basing mostly on that, because I didn't finish this one.

Why? Because I've seen trollfics that were better-proofread.
